Driving excellence across Rarotonga and Aitutaki Airports

The Airport Authority Cook Islands is made up of three divisions, they ensure the organisation is able to achieve the aim mentioned above. The three divisions are Corporate Services, Operations Services and Support Services. Each division consists of departments and personnel who work together to continue the legacy of managing the airports on the islands of Aitutaki and Rarotonga and achieving the goals.

The organisation employs 117 personnel and the depth of its workforce range from operational and technical to commercial and administrative.

The Corporate Services are essential to supporting the organisation with financial management, administrative services, personnel recruitment, managing shared technology resources and pursuing economic development opportunities to achieve the organisation’s goals above. The division consists of four departments, they are Commercial Business, Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology.

The Support Services is a newly formed division that ensures the maintenance of all airport infrastructure excluding electrical systems, following best practices and are proactively, predicatively and effectively maintained. It also ensures that the cleaning of the terminal building is kept at the highest standards and that gardens, hedges and airport surroundings are kept clean and tidy at all times. The division consist of two departments, they are Maintenance and Cleaning Landscaping.

Executive General Manager Finance

The Airport Authority Cook Islands is seeking an experienced and dynamic financial leader to join our executive team as Executive General Manager – Finance.

This senior leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the strategic financial direction of the Authority while ensuring sound management and operational excellence across our Finance and Administration Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the Finance/Administration Division, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and operational efficiency

  • Provide expert financial advice and strategic recommendations to the CEO and senior management

  • Develop and implement effective financial planning, reporting, and budgeting strategies

  • Drive continuous improvement of financial systems and processes for greater accuracy and efficiency

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field (or equivalent professional qualification)

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in financial management, with a proven track record in senior finance leadership roles

  • Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills, with the ability to manage complex financial operations and deliver results

Executive General Manager Operations

The Airport Authority Cook Islands is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and strategic leader to join our senior management team as Executive General Manager of Operations.

This critical role is responsible for overseeing the operational division of the Authority, including the strategic planning and management of key services across both Rarotonga and Aitutaki Airports.

Key Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A Master’s in Business Administration or a qualification equivalent to an MBA

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience managing multidisciplinary operational teams

  • Proven leadership and strategic thinking capabilities

  • In-depth knowledge of civil aviation regulations and documentation, including:

    • CAA Rules Part 139, 140, and 172

    • The Airport Authority’s Exposition Document

  • Strong stakeholder communication and team management skills

  • A valid Police Criminal Record Check must be provided
